Did the Hamas attack even happen?
Before we ask if Israel has the right to "defend itself" by committing genocide, let's ask whether there was a terrorist attack in the first place
If a terrorist attack happens in public and nobody sees it, did it really happen?
Below is a news report which purports to show the “shocking footage” of the Hamas terrorist attacks. Watch it for yourself and see if you can spot the terrorist attack:
None of this footage is time-stamped or verifiable as a current event. The people in it are not clearly identified, and most strangely of all, there are no interviews are conducted with “survivors”. Normally you would have journalists or even normal people giving commentary on what just happened, but all we see are random snippets of events out of any coherent context. We are relying entirely on news reports for context, being fed small clips of events out of context, and this is supposedly the justification for a genocidal war against the occupied victims of Palestine?
In the entire video, there is no video of dead bodies, blood, or carnage. Somebody gets shot at in a car at some point, but we don’t know who they are, or why they were being shot. We see a girl with a bag over her head being forced into a van, but we don’t know if she’s Israeli or not, or when the incident took place. A guy with a gun is filmed pulling somebody off screen, and we’re told that this was a Hamas soldier taking an Israeli concert goer hostage. How do we know it wasn’t an Israeli terrorist taking a Palestinian hostage? How do we know it wasn’t a random criminal two years ago in a different area?
Having asked several people what they think of the supposed “music festival” (2:44 in the video), they think it looks staged. The video does not show any attack whatsoever. It cuts away, and the next time we see footage the people look mildly worried, with some people getting up from the dirt, and somebody who looks like a police officer or security guard waving them away and telling them to clear out. Another clip supposedly shows these people running to their cars, but nobody is being shot at, no bombs are blowing up, and there is no evidence of a crime being committed. For all we know, some kind of alarm was set off, or perhaps the police were raiding the concert to arrest criminals or break it up because it was an illegal event. We have no idea what is going on.
The supposed footage of the Hamas soldiers invading an Israeli military base are likewise devoid of real combat footage, just dudes running around and shooting at empty walls, in what looks like an empty base. We see rocket attacks, yes, and some person on a paraglider, but are we really supposed to believe that this proves anything about a massive hostage incident by a trained terrorist network?
Wag the dog?
If the Hamas attack never happened, one of the most clever aspects of the Israeli deception would be saying that soldiers were taken hostage, since military personnel do not live ordinary lives and would not be noticed by ordinary folks if they were missing. They could be killed in the line of duty or be shipped away, and how could we know? Where are the names of the soldiers that were taken hostage? Do we have pictures and proof that they were stationed in the area that got attacked?
No, there’s no time for that. War has been declared, bombs are dropping on Palestinians, and genocide is unfolding. The only question now is whether it is justified based on this supposed terrorist attack. That’s a debate Israeli military is happy to have, and one they’ve had dozens of times before as they encroach further into the Palestinian territory and oppress the Arab minority.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s regime has been crumbling for some time. His coalition is weak, his popularity is low, his brutal agenda is unpopular, and the Neocon strategy doesn’t carry the same zest as it once did. Just like Pearl Harbor, 9/11, or the London subway bombing, this smells like a staged incident conducted by a desperate regime looking for an excuse to go to war and rally the country around their extremist fascist campaign of violence.
Prove me wrong
I’ve done an hour or so of research into trying to find footage of the Hamas attacks, so I will admit that I haven’t scoured much. Maybe there is excellent proof out there. At the same time, since it’s the biggest news story in the world right now, I expected to find it very easily. If you have a better video, please leave a comment telling me where to find it.
