Goodbye "X"
Elon Musk has turned Twitter into a disaster, and it's going to get much worse soon
5 Reasons I deactivated my “X” account
Aside from the embarrassing name change, horrendous logo, and the fact that Elon Musk is a CIA tool partnered with Peter Thiel…
Elon Musk is still fully in control of Twitter/X. After conducting a poll last year the majority of Twitter users said he should step down as its “head”, and he promised he would abide by it. He lied, and he wants vengeance on its users.
It’s well known by now that “X” is Elon’s old dream of the ultimate surveillance app, the equivalent to China’s WeChat, which combines Digital ID, biometrics, online banking, and social credit scores to police behavior on behalf of the totalitarian government. They’re already trying to use it for payment processing in several US states.
Elon lied about restoring free speech on his platform. Alex Jones remained banned, and he would be its #1 user if he was restored. You still can’t say what you think without fear of reprisal, and his new CEO (a WEF crony) says she believes people don’t have “freedom of reach”.
Elon charges money for visibility, making the platform “pay to win”, which destroys the whole point of the platform. I know several NPC non-influencers who are paying and getting much higher visibility than I am, without having any followers. I refuse to put my effort into a platform that punishes me for not paying, while promoting every jerk whose desperate enough to pay a tax on speech.
Those who pay for the subscription are also getting throttled if they’re not verified, which requires submitting ID. The new terms of service are going to majorly increase the amount of data “X” will be asking for if you want to be “fully verified” or whatever they call it. This is getting implemented tomorrow.
My Twitter account I had for 12 years got permanently banned because they didn't like one reply I made. (It was in response to a video of "stop oil" protesters keeping a mother from rushing her baby to the hospital. I responded she should have driven through the line of them. Not run them over, not kill them, they would have moved if she forced her car through. But apparently I was calling for violent action.)
No recourse. Aside from the fact that blue check marks made similar comments or worse. But, hey, they were paid customers. I am not.
I had already set up a mirror account on there with a similar name and all the accounts I followed on the other one suspecting they would eventually take me down. I have unpoular opinions, let's just say.
But on that new account, I hardly get any engagement at all. I could always expect a smattering to a fair number of responses, likes, replies, etc to my replies on other posts in the past.
Now my replies hardly get seen, let alone liked and scarcely a reply. And I am sure it's becuase I am not paying for their service. I don't need a "blue check mark." But if you don't pay, you have their "freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach." You can say whatever you want (which we know is not true, but just saying that's what they say)-but you don't have any expectation they will let anybody see it.
I followed suit and deactivated mine (not as if I used it). W Twitter, L "X" #Jackdorsey
