I recently had an exchange with a Zionist who parroted the same old propaganda about God blessing those who bless Israel, and cursing those who curse Israel. This person obviously claimed that this promise applied to the modern state called “Israel” and that ordinary people were obliged to support and bless it because of this Old Testament promise.
The original promise was given to Abram (before being renamed Abraham) in Genesis 12:2-3, which says, “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
This was an unconditional, one-way promise to Abram. We know from the New Testament that this promise to his “seed” was ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, not the nation of Israel. Furthermore, the “sons” of Abraham are not even the physical lineage, but the spiritual lineage of those who put their faith in God:
(Galatians 3:6-9) So also, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that those who have faith are sons of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold the gospel to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Does the modern state of Israel have faith in God, who sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to be the mediator and savior? No, they do not. Insofar as the modern state of Israel could be said to have a collective religious viewpoint, is a uniquely anti-Christian one. They are the faithless people. Colonial Zionism, by definition, is the rejection of God’s promises and the belief that the “chosen people” must accomplish the prophecies by their own cunning and effort. They directly contradict the Scriptures.
(v.16) The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your seed,” meaning One, who is Christ.
So the greatest promise—which was guaranteed unconditionally—was meant for Jesus Christ and all those who trust in him.
But what about the time when the prophet Balaam was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave an almost identical assurance, saying, “Blessed are those who bless you and cursed are those who curse you” (Numbers 24:9). This support is reiterated as the warlord Balak tried to get Balaam to curse them, but Balaam only confirmed repeatedly that no curse would prevail against the tribes of Israel so long as God blessed them.
Was this promise eternal and unconditional, like the one given to Abraham? No, it was affirming the truth of the current situation. When Moses and the Israelites finally receive the instructions for how to remain blessed in the land of Canaan (ie. modern Palestine) there is a huge “if” attached to the very beginning:
(Deuteronomy 28:1-2) “Now if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God and are careful to follow all His commandments I am giving you today…
See that? The promises were completely conditional, based on their performance as servants. They had to follow not only some of the commandments some of the time, but carefully follow all of them, all of the time. And we know that they disobeyed constantly, based on the remainder of the Old Testament, to the point where they were exiled from Jerusalem, their temple was destroyed, and they were taken to Babylon, removed from the land they were (conditionally) promised.
So when God goes on to say:
…the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, …
You should pay attention to how often there’s an immediate stipulation like this:
…if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God:
The Curse
I’m about to quote the last half of Deuteronomy 28 so that you can read for yourself the extreme curses God prepared in advance for Israel if they chose to disobey Him.
But before that, let me remind you that Zionists will only give you the positive side of the covenant God made with the tribes of Israel. Their intellectual dishonesty is a disgrace, and it is good for every Christian to oppose them directly to their face with Scripture, and warn others to not listen when they come back with more lies.
You don’t have to read this entire passage carefully, but I do want you to behold just how huge and intense the curses of God are against Israel when they are disobedient. Pay attention to how many different punishments and judgments He has in store for them, and ask yourself why God would be blessing the land of Israel today, since they completely reject their Messiah, who came to save them from their own disobedience, and give them a path to partake in the older promises given to Abraham, rather than the conditional promises given to Israel.
(Deuteronomy 28:15-68)
If, however, you do not obey the LORD your God by carefully following all His commandments and statutes I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
You will be cursed in the city
and cursed in the country.
Your basket and kneading bowl will be cursed.
The fruit of your womb will be cursed,
as well as the produce of your land,
the calves of your herds,
and the lambs of your flocks.
You will be cursed when you come in
and cursed when you go out.
The LORD will send curses upon you, confusion and reproof in all to which you put your hand, until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the wickedness you have committed in forsaking Him.
The LORD will make the plague cling to you until He has exterminated you from the land that you are entering to possess. The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, and with blight and mildew; these will pursue you until you perish. The sky over your head will be bronze, and the earth beneath you iron.
The LORD will turn the rain of your land into dust and powder; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed.
The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will march out against them in one direction but flee from them in seven. You will be an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth. Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the air and beasts of the earth, with no one to scare them away.
The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors and scabs and itch from which you cannot be cured.
The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind, and at noon you will grope about like a blind man in the darkness. You will not prosper in your ways. Day after day you will be oppressed and plundered, with no one to save you.
You will be pledged in marriage to a woman, but another man will violate her. You will build a house but will not live in it. You will plant a vineyard but will not enjoy its fruit. Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken away and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will save you.
Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, while your eyes grow weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand. A people you do not know will eat the produce of your land and of all your toil. All your days you will be oppressed and crushed. You will be driven mad by the sights you see.
The LORD will afflict you with painful, incurable boils on your knees and thighs, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.
The LORD will bring you and the king you appoint to a nation neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone. You will become an object of horror, scorn, and ridicule among all the nations to which the LORD will drive you.
You will sow much seed in the field but harvest little, because the locusts will consume it. You will plant and cultivate vineyards, but will neither drink the wine nor gather the grapes, because worms will eat them. You will have olive trees throughout your territory but will never anoint yourself with oil, because the olives will drop off. You will father sons and daughters, but they will not remain yours, because they will go into captivity. Swarms of locusts will consume all your trees and the produce of your land.
The foreigner living among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink down lower and lower. He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.
All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the LORD your God and keep the commandments and statutes He gave you. These curses will be a sign and a wonder upon you and your descendants forever.
Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart in all your abundance, you will serve your enemies the LORD will send against you in famine, thirst, nakedness, and destitution. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
The LORD will bring a nation from afar, from the ends of the earth, to swoop down upon you like an eagle—a nation whose language you will not understand, a ruthless nation with no respect for the old and no pity for the young. They will eat the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain or new wine or oil, no calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks, until they have caused you to perish. They will besiege all the cities throughout your land, until the high and fortified walls in which you trust have fallen. They will besiege all your cities throughout the land that the LORD your God has given you.
Then you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and distress that your enemy will inflict on you.
The most gentle and refined man among you will begrudge his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children who have survived, refusing to share with any of them the flesh of his children he will eat because he has nothing left in the siege and distress that your enemy will inflict on you within all your gates.
The most gentle and refined woman among you, so gentle and refined she would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will begrudge the husband she embraces and her son and daughter the afterbirth that comes from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else in the siege and distress that your enemy will inflict on you within your gates.
If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law which are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name—the LORD your God— He will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary disasters, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses. He will afflict you again with all the diseases you dreaded in Egypt, and they will cling to you.
The LORD will also bring upon you every sickness and plague not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed. You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left few in number, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and multiply, so also it will please Him to annihilate you and destroy you. And you will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess.
Then the LORD will scatter you among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known. Among those nations you will find no repose, not even a resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despairing soul.
So your life will hang in doubt before you, and you will be afraid night and day, never certain of survival. In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening you will say, ‘If only it were morning!’—because of the dread in your hearts of the terrifying sights you will see.
The LORD will return you to Egypt in ships by a route that I said you should never see again. There you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.”
Wow! It is astounding just how much wrath and judgment God prepared in His heart for the people of Israel if they failed to uphold their side of the covenant.
In fact, there are many more promises of curses than there are blessings in Deuteronomy 28. There are only 15 verses which promise blessings, but 53 verses which promise curses! That’s 3.5 times as many curses as blessings.
Redemption and Zion
In all of God’s curses, however, He never promised to annihilate the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. Instead, He would often promise to spare a few of them so that eventually they could be redeemed by His power, not by their own effort.
Jesus of Nazareth was the redeemer of Israel who came 400 years after God stopped sending Israel prophets, while they were under various imperial occupations. By the time John the Baptist arrived with the announcement of the Kingdom of Heaven, the Jews had warped and misinterpreted their own scriptures horribly, creating an alternative system of obedience that God hated. That’s why Jesus frequently exposed the hypocrisy and evil of the Pharisees, who were a radical sect of religious scholars that hijacked the interpretation of the Old Testament.
The followers of Jesus are redeemed in him, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. They will inherit the earth literally, when Jesus comes back to establish his Kingdom on earth, which is the true “Zion” promised in prophecy.
Thus, modern “Zionism” is a direct inversion of the true prophecy of Zion.
To forcefully occupy Palestine, rebuild the temple, sacrifice on the altar, and pretend that you could somehow fulfill the ancient obligations given to Israel, is insanity. Those obligations became obsolete the moment Jesus was deemed (by God) to have fulfilled the Law and Prophets; he alone received the promises given not only to Abraham, but also to Israel. All blessings are contained in Jesus. There are none that remain for the nation of Israel apart from him, and they must first establish their faith in him, and submit to his new covenant.
The End Times
Reader, we cannot forget the words of the apostles:
(2 Peter 3:3) knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
Zionism is an attempt to circumvent the true promises of God. Rather than trusting in the Messiah and waiting for his return, these men piled up infinite sins, murdering the innocent, conquering the land, stealing, bombing, lying, and blackmailing the world in order to achieve a false hope of those promises with their own hands.
And I don’t mean Jews generally. Zionism is mostly a British project, growing out of the warped ideology of the Elizabethan court astrologer John Dee, who claimed that the British royals were a lost tribe of Israel1 and that England had a divine role to play in fulfilling propehcy. Francis Bacon also advocated for a British imperialism fulfilling end times prophecy, leading logically to a mandate to establish Israel again politically, and then funnel Jews into the land so that they could rebuild the temple, etc. It’s no wonder that Freemasonry, which was an English secret society, was a Zionist cover, to manipulate global politics to resemble (what they believe is) the scenario described in Revelation.
If we are witnessing the rapid escalation of conflict leading to the building of the Third Temple and the Zionist dream come true, it would be best for us to keep our eyes wide open. God is not blessing Israel according to the promises of the Old Testament covenant. God is allowing Satan to use that land to fulfill another prophecy, the Whore of Babylon, which rides upon the Beast and becomes the center of world trade, persecution of Christians, and the recipient of God’s judgments. We should pray for the Jews to see this deception before it is too late, and turn to Jesus rather than trusting in the diabolical schemes of the Zionists.
Israel and the Synagogue of Satan
Readers sent me questions about Israel, Jews, prophecy and theology. Regarding the political state of affairs, my views are based on the best research and journalism I can find, and I don’t pretend to have firsthand knowledge. Feel free to ask your own questions here:
Supposedly this was written about in General and Rare Memorials pertayning to the Perfect Arte of Navigation (1577). I have not read it myself.
“We should pray for the Jews to see this deception before it is too late, and turn to Jesus rather than trusting in the diabolical schemes of the Zionists.“
That’s how you bless Jews. Pray for them to come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as the Messiah prophesied by the Old Testament. The Jews who believe in Jesus preaching the gospel to their fellow Jews who do not believe are sheep telling other sheep about the Good Shepherd who redeemed them with His blood. God keeps His promises, but not in the way the false Jews wanted.
Your bit about the lie of British royalty descending from Jews (British Israelism) reminded me of something from an article written by Foy E Wallace Jr.
‘This talk of the Anglo-Saxons being descendants of the ten tribes "in large part" reminds one of the theory of the origin of species. By the evolution theory they try to make a monkey out of a man, and by this British theory they are trying to make an Israelite out of an Englishman!’
Excellent. The association between Zionism and Freemasonry/Theosophy/Gnosticism and plain old Satanism is an important and oft neglected aspect to all of this. Thank you for your work.
