I recently had the pleasure of a long conversation with an NPC about the global crisis we’re facing and what can be done about it. We’ve known each other for over a decade and never seen eye-to-eye on politics, religion, or culture, although we’ve never been hostile or insulting to each other. We get along just fine because neither of us are insecure or pushy. I’ve been able to set my watch by his Reddit-tier takes on current events for a long time, so I’m grateful to him. Our talk confirmed my observation: NPCs are now evolving into a death cult.
Recently he has become “right wing” in his own words. Being a centrist normie, you could always predict what he would support. He was a diehard Obama supporter who did not believe me when I warned him early on that “Hope” and “Change” were not going to be the black president’s legacy. At a fundamental level, he simply believes in Progress™ instead of God. He wanted Bernie Sanders to win, and like everyone else became instantaneously disinterested in politics the moment he cucked out to Clinton.1 He has no real moral stances, no real identity, but like a true Millennial believes that change is inevitable, and that Change Is Good.
He closely followed every technological bandwagon that came our way, and tells people he’s a genius for not doubting their success. Apple iPods, podcasts, YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Tumblr, Tinder, iPhones, cloud storage, Twitch, VR, AR, AI, blockchain, NFTs, and the list goes on—these are his accomplishments, in his mind. Somehow, being able to bet on technological horses and recognize a winner makes him feel superior to his Luddite parents and man-cave fratboy friends. I always believed he would complete the evolution into a full Technocrat, and now he has arrived. What amuses me is his rhetoric.
The good guy
For years he openly laughed at human suffering, expressed a desire to kill people he didn’t respect, and wished for a genocide of the masses who were not as smart as he. To cull the weak and install the strong as leaders was his quiet dream. He believes he is strong—strong enough to endorse genocide, at least. This paradox of benevolent, utopian tyranny is very familiar to libertarian-leaning individuals such as myself who believe in the wisdom of inefficiency. He was always a totalitarian at heart. Now that he has “switched sides” to the “right wing” he can finally feel comfortable admitting it.
Our conversation began with the topic of Elon Musk purchasing Twitter and gaining access to everyone’s private information. He believes in Elon Musk, and has often praised him as the Tony Stark of the world, which is the most pseudo-intellectual Reddit opinion in history. When I pointed out that Musk was a fraud who didn’t found the companies he became famous for starting up, never invented anything, ruined the lives of the original creators he replaced, and generally can’t explain a simple concept, he laughed along and insisted that it was still for the best. Elon Musk was a Good Guy, because he believed in Progress™ instead of God, just like him. Even when he conceded that he didn’t know much about Musk’s actual history or qualifications, and that he may very well be a frontman for DARPA, he maintained his approval of him. It didn’t change Musk’s mission, which was to Save Humanity.
Why does a person who openly calls for eugenics against the weak, mentally ill, elderly, and abnormal proclaim a quasi-religious faith in a conman billionaire philanthropist and the nebulous notion of collective salvation?

Amusingly, he tried to turn the tables by reciting the world’s problems to me. Things were beyond hope, he argued. Privacy was gone, so we may as well accept Musk’s Digital ID system. There were too many Antifa idiots and welfare-sucking losers in the world, getting away with too much, so we should accept the Social Credit Score. Freedom of speech was gone anyway, but also, the world was getting worse precisely because it wasn’t gone. Just look at the laws about pronouns! Transsexuals, the mentally ill, the autistic, the depressed, the non-contributors, they all had to go for the rest of society to move into that bright future. Climate change, and space mining, and Neuralink! I retorted that our rights and freedoms were still mostly intact, that the abuses of them are exaggerated because of social media’s outsized impact on our psychology, and that our political system is actually totally salvageable with only one motivated generation—which of course was an odd position for me of all people to take. But my point was that his extremism was based on psyops, social engineering, and a lack of imagination, not real issues. The same people behind Musk and the transhumanists, who would take over in the event of any sort of collapse and count him as one of the expendable consumers together with all the supposed subhumans he looked down on. This gave him pause. But no, the unwavering glory of Progress™ would ensure that evil could never prevail for long.
As I began to corner him and expose his paradoxical views, he retreated further into platitudes and empty assurances. Yes, he wanted most people to die, and yes he wanted scientific experts and corporations to run the world, but no he didn’t hate people. He wanted Utopia. Nothing could be more loving than that. He wanted the Good People to be free from the Bad People, and Mother Earth to be saved from Everyone. Who would make these decisions? What about checks and balances? What about the history of totalitarian corruption, and the atrocities that always came with unquestionable power? I encouraged him to admit that he was a Technocrat, a Malthusian, an Elitist, and a Fascist. He denied all charges, and smiled at the subtle realization that he was a villain.
In the end, he could only repeat the words: “I’m pro-human, Terry.”
Canadians define their political views by American standards.
I pray that this is a generic overview of the viewpoints of many, rather that a judgement call on an actual person. The author paints a good picture of many people, but I feel he fails to understand how misguided people are, and looks to them as unreachable, unchangeable, lost. Surely I am wrong, but characterizing people/said person as “NPC” kind of makes it seem like they fit the above category. Kind of makes me think this article was written out of exasperation for someone currently unwilling to “see the light” of things, not because the author is uncaring himself, for his fruits in other areas have helped many people. Overall - leave the softening of hearts to God ultimately, because you can talk until you are blue in the face, yet some will remain blinded until their due time. Don’t lose hope, God has a plan for all of us. May He bless your thoughts and endeavors.
